Metalhead is a rogue robot turtle in the 1987 cartoon series. Krang imbued Metalhead with the thoughts and memories of all the turtles in The Making of Metalhead. Because Metalhead had all the turtles personalities, it was subject to dissociative identity disorder. Donatello later reprograms Metalhead to fight for the turtles, but because of its instability due to the multiple personalities, Metalhead went haywire and attacked everyone, Donatello was able rig some of the broadcasting equipment at the Channel Six News Building to deactivate Metalhead. Metalhead realized that the Turtles were his friends and became their maid. He was only seen again when Donatello tries to get him to vacuum their TV room (episode: Big Bug Blunder).
Metalhead also appears in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time as the boss of the second level Alleycat Blues. He has extending punch and kick attacks, as well as a machine gun in his chest. This version was slightly redesigned for the remake, Turtles in Time Re-Shelled; this version of Metalhead was voiced by Wayne Grayson. The Super NES version of Turtles in Time erroneously refers to Metalhead as Mechaturtle, a boss from the first video game who is similar to Metalhead as both are robotic versions of the turtles.
In 1989, a Metalhead action figure was released by Playmates Toys. Warrior Metalhead Mike, a repaint of Metalhead (though in-story, a cybernetic Michaelangelo) was released in 1995.
Metalhead has been confirmed to appear in Nickelodeon's 2012 cartoon. Also a new action figure will be released by Playmates Toys.
